MR. CHRIS ZABRISKIE - NEW ALBUM
Chris’ new album is out. It is terrific, and a terrific new direction for him. Everything below I copied directly from his website.
The Dark Glow of the Mountains is out now on CD-R. No frills, handmade, only $5. The album is out digitally on Amazon mp3 right now for only $4.95, and will be on iTunes in a few weeks. If you’d like to listen to it first, you can do so at MySpace, Facebook, or Last.fm.

The big essay has been posted in full now over at Truly Free Film, with parts one through six available: one • two • three • four • five • six.
Lance Weiler of The Workbook Project responded nicely here.
In discussing a New York Times article by Virginia Heffernan, Filmmaker Magazine blog picked up some of my comments here.
Filmmaker Braden King lent a nice comment to that article, in which he links to an interview with Phil Solomon that serves as a wonderful counterpoint. While Solomon talks about art films or avant-garde films, which are normally by nature different from art-house films, his thoughts still resonant completely with me. This article is highly recommended so I link to it again. Interview with Phil Solomon. You’ll enjoy it.
TRULY FREE NOD
DIY Days recently hosted a discussion over dinner with a group of wonderful minds to talk about new distribution challenges and opportunities for filmmakers. The video is available here.
I felt compelled offer an audience reaction of sorts, so I sent Ted Hope my thoughts after watching. He’s been kind enough to post them to his blog, Truly Free Film. I wrote a rather long essay, so it will be in six parts. Part one is up now with later parts in line for the coming days.
Hopefully the instances where I sound blockheaded will be met with patience and an understanding that although I mean well, I can be, shall we say, blockheaded sometimes.
Ted’s been pivotal in mine and so many other filmmakers’ works, providing both inspirational and logistical aid–often without receiving credit. Ted’s list of blogs can be found here which nicely aggregate a lot of things people like me need to read.
